NFC Africa Mining Plc. is the first smart mine in Africa. Thanks to an integrated operational model based on the efficient management of information flow, business flow, and data flow, the main orebody in the west has exceeded its designed production capacity by 40 percent for three consecutive years. Automated load-haul-dumps (LHDs) in the southeast orebody have extracted up to 36,640 tonnes of ore per month, with total annual unmanned haulage reaching 800,000 tonnes. Each drilling rig has achieved an average monthly tunneling volume of over 10,000 cubic meters. The mineral beneficiation expert system has reduced management staffing by 60 percent, cut the total workforce by 815 people, and increased mining productivity by 32 percent.
