The Bayim Copper Mine Project is located in Chukotka Autonomous Prefecture, northeast of Kazakhstan, in the permafrost region of the Arctic Circle, and it is a rare high-latitude mine in the world. The copper reserves of the Mine are expected to be more than 10 million tons, belonging to the world's large copper resources. KAZ Minerals plans to build 70 million t/a mining and processing facilities, with the total investment expected to exceed USD 6 billion.
From 2021 to 2022, the camp construction contract and the concentrator facility construction contract were signed respectively. NFC was responsible for the civil construction, equipment installation and supporting infrastructure construction of the copper mine concentrator. After the completion, the mining scale of the copper mine will rank among the top five in the world. The contract is also the largest engineering contract of NFC so far.
